8 Ways To Boost Your Energy For Tired Moms

Why is it that my kids get all of the energy, and they are the ones who get to nap?

Parenting is one of the most rewarding jobs, but it’s also sooo exhausting. There are no weekends off or sick days, and you are on duty 24/7. It becomes easy to focus on your kids and neglect yourself, but that’s really not good for you or them!

As you may (or may not) know, I have 3 kids who are always on the go and rarely ever slow down! I’m exhausted most days, sometimes all day long. Being a stay-at-home mom is amazing and I’m so blessed to have this opportunity, but like most moms I know, I often find myself getting tired and cranky late in the afternoon or right before dinner. And I know I should probably be getting more sleep, but being a mom is my full time job!

So I’ve been thinking of all of the different energy boosters that have helped me in the past and recently, and after making a conscious effort to try these strategies out over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been feeling more energized and a lot less irritable.

And since I know there are other moms out there who are feeling even MORE tired than I am, I decided to share 8 of my most effective Ways To Boost Energy For Tired Moms. I hope these help!

1. Daily Workout

I know. I know. When you’re exhausted, that’s the LAST thing you want to do is go for a run or do a workout. But guess what? A 20 minute (or more) workout will actually give you more energy than you think you have. 2. Drink More Water

As simple as that sound, being dehydrated can affect your body even before you know you’re thirsty. It may be causing you to have headaches, fatigue, and lack of energy. So if you are looking for a quick pick-me-up and a great way to boost your energy, stop and drink a full bottle of water!

3. Don’t Skip Breakfast

If you’re like me, you try and make sure your kids get breakfast, but what about you? Just a cup of coffee doesn’t equal a healthy start to the day. You will feel more satisfied by eating in the morning and that can help your body boost your energy for your day. Looking for something new and different for breakfast? 4. Adjust Your Thinking

That’s right! Sometimes something as simple as adjusting your thinking can help boost your energy. Are you using positive words or negative words? Sometimes you can trick yourself into feeling more well-rested and happy by changing the words you use to positive ones! 5. Eat Healthy Snacks

If you’re like me and feel tired all day, even if you’re not hungry, you will probably want to have a snack. Your brain seems to be craving quick energy (a burst of sugar), but these sugary snacks rarely make you feel more energized. If you want to reach for a snack to help boost your energy, get a healthy snack. Try a handful of your favorite almonds or a protein bar. Fruit can also be a good snack because it is very filling. The high-calorie snacks will usually not make you feel more energized, and high sugar snacks can make you feel more tired when the “sugar high” crashes.

6. Caffeine

It revs up your metabolism and makes you feel like you have more physical and mental energy. I would recommend a cup of coffee or some tea. Some health experts recommend you stop drinking coffee as early as 2 p.m. If it’s later in the afternoon or evening and you still need an energy boost, try having one cup of black tea, which has half the amount of caffeine of coffee, or green tea, which has around one third the amount.

7. Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12, is an essential vitamin that your body needs, but cannot produce. It’s found naturally in animal products, but also added to certain food and available as an oral supplement or injection. Vitamin B12 may benefit your body in impressive ways, such as by boosting your energy, improving your memory and helping prevent heart disease.

8. Get More Sunshine

Before you reach for a snack to boost your energy, try getting up and going outside for a little sunshine break. Take a short walk if it’s a nice day to get some sunshine for a few minutes. Some sunshine will re-energize you plus the sunshine doesn’t have any calories and allows you to get a dose of much-needed vitamin D.
